The Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development in Adamawa State has issued a new directive asking all boarding schools to operate only as day schools for the moment. The circular, dated 22nd November 2025 and released from the State Secretariat Complex in Yola on Saturday, explained that the decision follows rising security challenges in the country.
According to the statement, “sequel to the security challenges that the country is facing at the moment, particularly with what happened to students in Niger and Kebbi States, it has been observed with great dismay that the target of the evil perpetrators is boarding Secondary Schools.”
The circular added that the Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ahmadu Umar Fintiri, has directed the ministry to “deboard all boarding schools across the State, be it public or private schools. They should all operate as day schools for the moment.”
Signed by the Honourable Commissioner, Umar Garba Pella, Ph.D, the notice instructed all principals and proprietors to deboard their schools “without further delay.” The ministry included its official email, Moeyelang@gmail.com, and ended by asking recipients to accept its highest esteemed regards.
