The Director-General of the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr Michael Zira, has announced that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted accreditation for the Adamawa State Technical Training Skills Centres to award the National Certificate in Technology (NCT).

Speaking at a press briefing in his office, Dr Zira confirmed that training activities would soon resume at the ten Technical Skills Training Centres across the state. “With this development, going forward, certificate earners from the Centres are eligible to work anywhere in the world,” he said.

He explained that the delay in admitting candidates for the skills training was due to damage caused by windstorms at some of the centres during the onset of the rainy season, which blew off roofs and disrupted operations. “The affected centres are being fixed, hence the commencement of the admission process,” he added.

Dr Zira urged successful candidates who were profiled and sat for examinations to visit their respective local government secretariats to check their names on the admission list. He revealed that there would be a needs assessment exercise next week to sensitize candidates on the importance of their chosen courses and how the skills will impact their economic future.

Commending the efforts of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Dr Zira said the administration’s vision is to turn Adamawa into a business hub and reduce reliance on public sector employment. “The Fintiri Business Wallet will be paid this month to the intending beneficiaries, and the agency is determined to make Adamawa a business hub, a total departure from dependence on its current ‘civil servant state’ status,” he stated.

He also expressed optimism that the next phase of the Fintiri Business Wallet will reach the target of one hundred thousand beneficiaries, as earlier announced by the Governor, reinforcing the state’s commitment to entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
