The Adamawa State Photography Association of Nigeria is calling for a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development to strengthen creative industries and promote youth empowerment across the state.

During a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry, Hammanjuba Gatugel, the Association’s Chairman, Monday Paul Phillip, highlighted the importance of collaboration in building sustainable support systems for photographers and videographers in the state.

“As entrepreneurs in the creative field of photography and videography, we deemed it important to formally appreciate the state government for its progressive initiatives. This ministry stands out compared to what we’ve seen in other states,” Monday said.

He noted the Ministry’s commitment to empowering small businesses, particularly among youths and women across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas, and stressed the need to include creative professionals in government support programs.

“Our profession is deeply tied to history, we record events, people, and progress. We help preserve legacies, not just for today but for future generations,” he added, pointing to photography’s role in public documentation and storytelling.

The Association used the opportunity to present key challenges facing its members, especially in access to digital tools and skills development.

Monday explained, “We have a wide network of professionals and aspiring photographers across the state. We are committed to training the next generation, but we also need government support, especially in terms of equipment and infrastructure to improve our service delivery.”

In response, Honourable Commissioner Hammanjuba Gatugel appreciated the Association’s efforts, saying, “I’ve listened carefully to your requests. This Ministry was established by His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, specifically to support and develop entrepreneurs across all sectors. Your field is very much part of that vision.”

He acknowledged the importance of photography in boosting public engagement and showcasing government achievements, stating, “Your work through photos and videos showcases the government’s efforts and achievements. You’re helping build public trust and awareness.”

Earlier, the delegation was welcomed by Mr. Kwaji Duguri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, who provided an overview of the Ministry’s ongoing programs and milestones in entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and economic empowerment.

The visit ended on a hopeful note, with both parties expressing readiness to explore areas of mutual benefit that will promote creative industries, support business development, and drive inclusive growth through digital entrepreneurship and visual storytelling in Adamawa State.
