About the Internship Programme
The internship programme is part of Afreximbank’s commitment to developing talent and deepening understanding of African trade and structured trade finance. Interns are given the opportunity to:

Interns are assigned to departments and may be rotated across different units during their placement.
Duration and Location
The internship runs for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months. It is offered twice a year, typically starting in January and June.
This is a physical (non-virtual) programme. Successful candidates will be required to relocate to their assigned duty station, with most placements taking place at the Bank’s headquarters in Cairo.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme at a recognised institution
- Study fields such as economics, finance, accounting, business administration, law, engineering, sciences, or related disciplines
- Be nationals of Afreximbank member states, Africans in the diaspora, or non-Africans aligned with Africa’s development goals
- Be aged between 20 and 32 years at the time of application
- Be fluent in English or French, with working knowledge of the other language
- Knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage
Children of Afreximbank staff are not eligible for the programme.
Benefits
Although interns are responsible for their personal upkeep, Afreximbank provides structured support, including:
- Monthly tax-free stipend of USD 1,000
- Housing allowance of USD 500 for relocating interns
- Return flight ticket (economy class)
- One-week hotel accommodation during induction
- Airport transfers
- Visa support where required
These provisions are intended to ease relocation and living costs during the internship.
