Applications are now open for Cohort 6 of the AIG Public Leaders Programme (PLP), offered by the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation. The programme is an immersive leadership experience designed to equip African public sector leaders with the skills, frameworks, and confidence required to drive meaningful and lasting change.
Delivered in partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, the AIG PLP prepares leaders to navigate complexity, strengthen public institutions, and lead with integrity. It is a flagship leadership capacity-building initiative focused on empowering senior public servants across Africa with the capabilities needed to implement effective reforms and improve governance outcomes.
The programme ensures that participants rapidly acquire critical leadership, policy, and management skills. They are introduced to strong conceptual frameworks and practical tools that help them address the complexities of the public institutions in which they serve. The curriculum supports leaders in operating effectively within dynamic and evolving governance environments.
The experience is intensive and highly interactive. It combines faculty-led discussions with practical exercises, simulations, and collaborative group work. Through this approach, participants develop the capacity to build cultures of excellence, effectiveness, and integrity within their organisations, generating measurable benefits for their institutions and contributing to national development.
Core programme focus areas include negotiating in the public interest, harnessing digital technology, strengthening public organisations, integrity in public life, and communication and narrative power. To maximise learning outcomes, participants engage in peer learning, guided reflection, and a structured capstone project.
After several weeks of blended instruction, participants are given dedicated time to design and develop a capstone project. This enables them to translate programme insights into practical, workplace-based initiatives that address real policy and institutional challenges.
Eligibility criteria include being a citizen of an English-speaking African country and actively working in the public sector in Africa, having a minimum of seven years’ work experience, being at Grade Level 13 and above, and being between 35 and 54 years old.
Applications opened on Friday, 20 February 2026, and will close on Sunday, 12 April 2026. Interested applicants can apply at https://www.aigimoukhuedefoundation.org/developing-leaders-in-government/aig-public-leaders-programme.
