The Abia State Government has launched the application portal for its second cohort of the TechRise Project, aimed at empowering 850 Abia youths with high-demand digital skills. This initiative is jointly driven by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development.
The government confirmed that “about 50 qualified applicants from each of the 17 local government areas will be selected,” bringing the total to 850 trainees.
The program offers free training in highly sought-after skills like cybersecurity, AI and machine learning with Python, mobile app development with JavaScript, 3D animation, fullstack web development with JavaScript and Python, data engineering, game development with Blender and Godot, UI/UX design, and AI prompt engineering.
In addition to training, participants will receive free laptops, accommodation, three daily meals, internet access, and globally recognized certifications. There are also added perks including internship, mentorship, job placement, and accommodation support.
“This initiative is part of our commitment to digital empowerment and youth development,” said a government representative. “We want Abia youths to have access to the global tech economy.”
Applicants must be between ages 16 and 40, have basic computer knowledge, and provide both NIN and ABSSIN for verification.
The application window is open from June 26th to July 9th, 2025.
