A new opportunity has opened for individuals passionate about sustainable agriculture and food systems. The Agroecology and Organic Agriculture Leadership Course is now accepting applications, offering a unique learning experience for future leaders in the field of agroecology.

The course is part of the Agroecology Promotion Programme (APP), supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and implemented by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) in partnership with the Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (NOAN).

According to the organizers, this is a “participatory learning journey that strengthens leadership, policy influence, and market strategies, empowering changemakers to advance agroecological transitions and build resilient, inclusive food systems in their communities and beyond.” The 9-month course will run from September 2025 to June 2026, combining in-person and online learning.

Participants will grow their skills in sustainable agriculture practices, digital learning, and food system innovation. The course promises practical tools and networking opportunities across Africa.

Course Structure
i. 9-month hybrid programme
ii. 2 face-to-face sessions for the course kick-off and conclusion in Abeokuta, Ogun state
iii. 7 live Zoom sessions with experts
iv. Online platform for recorded materials and tasks
v. Individual development plans coached by experts

Eligibility requirements
i. This course is only open to applicants based in Nigeria
ii. Participants are responsible for covering their own travel expenses.
iii. Accommodation and meals as well as course materials will be provided.
iv. No additional financial support can be granted.
v. Participants must ensure that they have reliable internet access and appropriate technical equipment to fully engage in the online webinar sessions.
