June 18, 2025 – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced a new recruitment opportunity, inviting qualified professionals to apply for the role of Project Manager – CAF IMPACT Programme. This role will be based at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, and is part of the organization’s efforts to strengthen its operations across the continent.
“CAF is calling on professionals who are passionate about African football development and possess the right educational background and project management experience,” the statement from CAF reads.
The new project manager will play a key role within the Member Association Division, overseeing capacity-building activities and ensuring that they align with CAF’s strategic frameworks. This includes monitoring the implementation of initiatives across Member Associations (MAs) and Zonal Unions (ZUs).
The successful applicant will coordinate CAF’s capacity building and project activities, working as the main contact point for all capacity development efforts. They will ensure that training, workshops, and development missions are delivered smoothly, while also providing support to other departments such as Schools Football, Safeguarding, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The manager will also be expected to work closely with Zonal Unions to gather data and generate reports, monitor and evaluate project impacts and suggest improvements, provide regular updates to the Director of MAs on progress and potential challenges, and promote success stories and achievements through the CAF Communications and PR team.
CAF added that the position “requires a strong ability to work with diverse teams, stakeholders, and partners across Africa and internationally.”
The project manager will support multiple departments and liaise with external institutions such as universities, NGOs, and other football confederations to help design joint training and development programs.
According to CAF, “the candidate will help CAF build strong partnerships to enhance learning and institutional growth across Africa.”
A major component of the job includes overseeing the annual planning and budgeting of CAF’s capacity-building projects. The manager will ensure effective documentation and efficient use of resources, which are essential for maintaining transparency and organizational learning.
Who Should Apply?
CAF is looking for candidates with a Master’s degree in fields such as Project Management, Organizational Development, Sports Administration, or related areas. Applicants must have:
1. At least 5 years of experience in development or capacity-building projects
2. Proven ability to deliver training and assess institutions in Africa
3. Experience working with cross-cultural teams and managing partnerships
4. Expertise in programme design and capacity evaluation
5. Strong communication, facilitation, and budgeting skills
5. Fluency in English is mandatory, while French, Arabic, or Portuguese will be a strong advantage
7. Willingness to travel across the continent
