The initiative is delivered through Lagos Innovates in partnership with InnoPower Africa. It aims to make AI skills accessible to young people without requiring coding experience or a technical background.

A major focus is prompt engineering, the skill of giving AI tools clear instructions in everyday language to produce useful results. Participants will learn how to apply AI tools to practical tasks, whether they are seeking jobs or running businesses.

The academy will operate through a train-the-trainer model. One hundred certified trainers will complete an advanced prompt engineering programme, with each trainer expected to guide 100 learners in their communities. The model is intended to reach 10,000 learners across Lagos State at no cost.

Two learning tracks are available. The Job Seeker Track will show participants how to use AI to strengthen job applications, improve interview preparation and develop digital skills valued by employers.

The Entrepreneurship Track will focus on using AI to identify customers, plan business activities, improve marketing and manage daily operations more efficiently.

Participants who complete the programme will gain practical AI skills, receive an EkoAI Academy certificate and access a pathway into the wider LSETF and Lagos Innovates ecosystem of opportunities.

The initiative is part of efforts to prepare young people for a changing labour market, where employers and businesses increasingly use digital tools to improve productivity. However, participation does not guarantee a job, business funding or employment placement.

The training is designed for practical use rather than coding, making it relevant to applicants from different educational and work backgrounds. Learners can explore ways AI may help them communicate professionally, organise tasks, create content and make better-informed decisions in their chosen career or enterprise every day.
