Applications are now open for the Skill Up Abia Women Programme, an initiative of the Abia State Government through the Safe Tent Care Initiative (STCI). This fully sponsored three-month training is designed to equip women across all 17 local government areas with practical, income-generating skills.
The programme is delivered in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Abia State.
Participants will receive hands-on training in areas such as fashion design, hairdressing, make-up and gele tying, confectioneries and food processing, as well as bag and shoe making. The goal is to empower women with skills they can use immediately to earn a living and become financially independent.
The programme is open to females aged 16 to 35 who are in need of income-generating skills and can commit to attending at least 80 per cent of the training. Priority will be given to applicants who are indigent or vulnerable. This opportunity is strictly for beginners, so those who already have a skill are encouraged to refer someone else instead.
Applicants are advised to apply only once, as multiple entries will lead to disqualification. Selection will be based on screening and distributed fairly across all 17 LGAs.
The application deadline is Wednesday, 25th March. To apply, interested applicants should visit www.safetentcareinitiative.org/apply/skill-up.
