Meta has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy to launch the Llama Impact Accelerator Program. This initiative aims to support early-stage startups using Llama to build transformative solutions in key sectors.
The program offers equity-free funding, technical training, mentorship, and extended post-program support. Startups in Nigeria that are developing AI-powered solutions in agriculture, healthcare, security, or other impactful areas are strongly encouraged to apply.
“We’re proud to partner with the Nigerian government to foster AI innovation that serves local needs,” said a Meta spokesperson. “This accelerator empowers startups to not only grow technically but also gain access to funding and policy exposure.”
The Llama Impact Accelerator focuses on four main sectors agriculture (especially livestock innovation), security and safety (including smart cities and environmental protection), healthcare (such as biogenetics, diagnostics, and health access), and a wildcard category for standout innovations outside the core areas.
Participants will go through six weeks of intensive technical training and expert mentorship, followed by a Demo Day where top startups will pitch their solutions for a chance to win equity-free funding. First prize winners will receive $25,000, second place will get $15,000, and the third place receives $10,000.
After the Demo Day, selected startups will benefit from six months of tailored post-program support. This includes ecosystem exposure, access to additional funding opportunities from Meta, and one-on-one guidance to scale their AI solutions effectively.
“By equipping startups with mentorship, Llama training, and access to partners and stakeholders, we are building a strong AI ecosystem that can address Nigeria’s biggest challenges,” said the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy.
Eligible applicants must be based in Nigeria and building AI solutions that are scalable and relevant to the program’s focus areas. The selection process considers solution relevance, technical feasibility, team strength, and potential impact.
Applications are open until June 27, 2025, and the program also welcomes applicants from Kenya, South Africa, and Senegal, with country-specific themes.
