May 21, 2025 – In a move to strengthen leadership in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) has officially announced internal and external vacancies for top executive positions across six major federal agricultural institutions. The announcement invites applications for the roles of Director/CEO and Provost/CEO, in alignment with the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (Amendment) Act 2021.
The positions include:
- Provost/CEO at Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Akure, Ondo State
- Provost/CEO at Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Ishiagu, Ebonyi State
- Provost/CEO at Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology (FCAPT), Kano, Kano State
- Provost/CEO at Federal College of Horticulture (FCH), Dadinkowa, Gombe State
- Provost/CEO at Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Ibadan, Oyo State
- Director/CEO at National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom, Plateau State
According to ARCN, applicants must hold a PhD and demonstrate extensive training and research experience. Candidates must also show leadership ability, a track record of scientific publications, and must not be over 60 years old at the start of tenure.
The council highlighted that these institutions are key to agricultural development, animal health research, and vocational training. The Director or Provost will serve as the head of administration, overseeing daily operations.
