The organisers of the Grand Arewa Twitter Connect Youth Programme have announced plans to empower over 3,000 young people across Northern Nigeria through a large-scale engagement focused on leadership, innovation, and civic participation.

The initiative, scheduled to hold on April 26, 2026, at the Amani Event Centre in Kano, is expected to convene young leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and digital innovators from the 19 Northern states.

In a statement issued by the Head, Media Team and Liaison Officer, Yahaya Abubakar Ayuba, the programme was described as a strategic platform aimed at shaping the future of the region by investing in its youth population.

He noted that Northern Nigeria was at a critical point where the role of young people had become central to sustainable development, governance, and economic transformation.

According to him, the Arewa Twitter Connect is more than a gathering, but a movement designed to bridge the gap between youths and decision-makers, while promoting mentorship, networking, and skills development.

“The programme will provide participants with access to knowledge, opportunities, and strategic connections necessary to drive positive change within their communities,” he said.

The organisers disclosed that the event would focus on strengthening leadership capacity, encouraging digital innovation, and enhancing youth participation in governance processes.

They added that over 3,000 participants would benefit from structured mentorship sessions, interactive engagements, and capacity-building activities tailored to address contemporary challenges facing young Nigerians.

As part of preparations for the event, the organising committee has called for strategic partnerships and sponsorships from public and private sector stakeholders to support the execution of the programme.

The support being sought, according to the organisers, includes funding for logistics, training materials, participant welfare, and media coverage.

Ayuba emphasised that such collaborations would play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the initiative and amplifying its impact across the region.

He further stated that the expected outcomes include equipping thousands of youths with practical skills and resources, fostering stronger leadership culture, and promoting inclusive participation in governance.

The organisers described the programme as a timely intervention and a significant opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to youth development in Northern Nigeria.

They expressed optimism that the initiative would serve as a catalyst for long-term transformation by empowering a new generation of leaders committed to progress and innovation.
