The Benue State Government, through Benue Digital Infrastructure Company Plc (BDICP), has launched a digital platform designed to help artisans move “from hustle to recognition” by getting certified and trusted across Nigeria.

The initiative, unveiled as the Artisan Portal, aims to connect skilled workers with individuals, households, and businesses that need dependable services. According to the organisers, the platform will “help connect skilled artisans to people who need reliable services” while offering official skill certification.

The government said the portal is open to tailors, mechanics, welders, carpenters, hair stylists, electricians, plumbers, and all skilled workers. It described the programme as an opportunity for artisans to “turn your skill into a recognized certificate” and obtain an Artisan Certificate.

Explaining the benefits, BDICP stated that registered users will “get official skill certification, be recognized across Nigeria, access better job opportunities, and build trust with customers.”

The platform serves two main groups: Seekers and Service Providers. Seekers include individuals, businesses, or households searching for verified artisans. They can browse profiles, read reviews, and manage engagements from a single dashboard. Service Providers, including artisans, cooperatives, and small businesses, can expand their reach, manage bookings, and build trust using digital credentials and documented work history.

BDICP added that it is piloting financing options for verified artisans, introducing task management tools for seekers, and working with state partners to ensure official recognition of BDICP certifications.
