A major call for young changemakers has been announced with the launch of the 10×10 YPS Stories initiative, celebrating ten years of progress under the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda. The program, led by UNFPA, UNDP, the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), and the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), seeks to spotlight the outstanding contributions of young people to global peacebuilding efforts.
The initiative aims to gather 20 powerful stories from across the world, 10 from “fresh” young leaders currently making an impact, and 10 from “pioneers” who have played a crucial role in advancing the YPS agenda over the past decade.
“This is a unique opportunity to document and amplify the voices of young people making a difference in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and community reintegration,” a representative from UNFPA shared.
The selected stories will reflect the five core pillars of the YPS agenda: Participation, Protection, Prevention, Partnership, and Disengagement and Reintegration. These narratives will not only showcase real-world progress but also explore how the landmark UN Security Council Resolution 2250 has impacted youth-led peace efforts.
According to organizers, the goal is to create a high-quality, accessible product such as a multimedia website or publication to share these stories globally. “We want to empower young peacebuilders and provide a platform for them to shape the next decade of YPS,” said a representative from UNOY Peacebuilders.
