Comedian and youth advocate Ekene Smith Adigwu has launched LAFF Supper, a ₦1 million comedy and talent discovery event designed to empower young creatives and give emerging entertainers a platform to showcase their talents.
The initiative, scheduled to hold on April 6, 2026, which coincides with Easter Monday, will take place at Trinity House Zion Centre on Trinity Avenue, off Water Corporation Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.
LAFF Supper is a flagship project of the Ekene Smith Adigwu Youth Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on youth empowerment and talent discovery across Africa.
According to the organisers, the event is structured not only as a comedy show but also as a platform where emerging entertainers can gain visibility, connect with industry stakeholders, and develop their creative potential.
Speaking on the vision behind the programme, Adigwu said the idea was born out of the need to create opportunities for talented young people who often struggle to find platforms to express themselves.
“Our mission is to create opportunities for young people who have the talent but lack the platform. LAFF Supper is one of the ways we are opening doors for the next generation of comedians and entertainers,” he said.
A major highlight of the event will be the Open Mic Comedy Challenge, which will allow aspiring comedians to perform before a live audience and a panel of industry figures. The best-performing comedian will walk away with a grand prize of ₦1 million.
Adigwu explained that the event is designed to combine entertainment with mentorship and talent development, ensuring that participants gain exposure and opportunities beyond the stage.
“Our goal is not just to entertain people for one evening, but to discover talents, nurture them, and connect them with opportunities that can shape their careers in the creative industry,” he added.
