The governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has announced the dissolution of the Board of the Local Government Service Commission after uncovering what he described as serious abuse of office in the recent job recruitment.
In a statement on Monday, he said the recruitment process was compromised, noting that “what happened was wrong and unfair,” and that it betrayed the trust citizens placed in his administration. He confirmed that the suspended recruitment exercise will remain on hold and will be restarted in a clean and transparent way.
According to him, the new process will be based on merit to ensure only qualified applicants are selected, supporting employment transparency and public accountability. The governor added, “I do not tolerate corruption in any form,” stressing that more strong steps will be taken to make institutions honest and trustworthy while building a better Cross River State.
