The Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has launched the “Power of 10 Million” initiative, positioning it as a strategic platform to mobilise women across Nigeria towards empowerment, inclusive governance, and national development.

As obtained by Nigeria Startup News on Monday, she unveiled the initiative during a meeting of the Contact, Mobilization and Accreditation Committee held in Abuja ahead of the 2026 National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally, where she serves as Chairman. Bishop Otu described the programme as a high-impact movement aimed at harnessing the collective strength, resilience, and influence of Nigerian women.

According to her, the forthcoming rally is designed to provide a national platform for women to actively participate in political and socio-economic processes, while also presenting a unified voice capable of shaping the country’s future direction.

She noted that the theme, “Power of 10 Million: One Voice, One Movement, One Choice,” reflects a deliberate shift from symbolic engagement to actionable inclusion of women in governance and development.

Bishop Otu further emphasised the importance of the committee’s mandate, stating that it carries the responsibility of ensuring aggressive mobilisation of women, stakeholders, and party members nationwide. She stressed the need for coordinated engagement and seamless accreditation processes to ensure broad participation and the successful delivery of the initiative’s objectives.

Earlier, the Secretary of the committee, Hon. Ginika Tor, commended Bishop Otu’s leadership, describing her as resilient and result-driven, with the capacity to steer the programme towards success.

In separate interviews, Mrs. Dorcas Azi and Princess Ako Nsa Ekpenyong expressed confidence in the initiative, noting that it provides a unifying platform for women from diverse backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to national development. They urged women across the country to participate actively, describing the rally as an opportunity to strengthen their voice in governance.
