August 23, 2025 – The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a disclaimer on the ongoing news about recruitment, but it is not what many interested applicants have been expecting.
The agency posted a disclaimer on a circulating advert about DSS Past Questions and Answers being sold for N1,000 with a WhatsApp contact number. The disclaimer post carried only the caption “Disclaimer” and did not provide further information.
This comes at a time when rumours about DSS recruitment are spreading across Nigeria, with claims that handwritten applications are currently being accepted.
The cryptic nature of the disclaimer has left many Nigerians with mixed reactions, as it did not directly debunk the recruitment claims.
On the official DSS website, the most recent disclaimer was published on May 21, 2025, where the agency clearly stated that no recruitment exercise was ongoing.
However, in this latest case, the DSS did not deny the reports but only distanced itself from the sale of the past questions.
Netizens quickly reacted to the post, interpreting it in different ways. One commenter wrote, “This is an affirmation that DSS is recruiting.” Another person added, “As DSS has put a disclaimer, then I should find and buy a copy!”
The reactions highlight a growing belief among applicants that the recruitment is in progress, while the past questions and answers PDF being sold is not authorised by the agency. Some say the only clear explanation is that DSS recruitment might indeed be ongoing, but the sale of materials is encouraged/approved.
Nonetheless, interested candidates are urged to remain patient and avoid paying anyone promising them a DSS job or exam materials. Only official updates from the agency’s office should be trusted.
