Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE), in partnership with the Richard George Foundation in the United Kingdom and the Voice Aid Association in Germany, has officially launched new transformative initiatives aimed at empowering youths in Edo with practical skills, innovation, and global opportunities.
Speaking at the launch, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo-Anani, described the initiative as “more than just programmes, but the ignition of a movement of empowerment, sustainability, and collaboration.” She explained that “by working together, we are building bridges across nations and cultures to empower people, strengthen communities, and create sustainable futures.”
The Executive Chairman of BTVE, Barr. Mrs. Onomen Goodness Briggs, also praised the Governor for what she described as visionary leadership, passion for education, and strong support for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). She noted that “by investing in technical and vocational education, we are equipping the next generation of change-makers with the skills, creativity, and resilience to thrive in today’s world.”
The partnership has already recorded achievements with more than 120 students trained to turn waste into wealth. According to reports, they have created jewelry from coconut shells, furniture from used tires, mats from pure water nylon, shoes, school bags, and even a crafted Edo State map designed from plastic bottle covers.
During the event, the unveiling of the Green Nexus Programme, the Internship Programme, and the Women in Business Initiative marked another step for Edo State toward building a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for its citizens.
