The Edo State College of Education, Igueben, has announced a major recruitment drive, opening dozens of new job vacancies across academic and non-academic roles. The institution, approved by the National Board for Technical Education and located at its permanent site in Ekiadolor, is seeking qualified applicants to fill these positions immediately.
A wide range of teaching jobs in Nigeria is available, including openings for Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and Assistant Lecturers in fields like Agricultural Science Education, Computer Science Education, and Mathematics Education. Non-teaching career opportunities are also listed, such as positions for an Accountant, a Procurement Officer, and a Data Processing Officer. This recruitment drive represents a significant expansion for the college, which has a vision to be a leading educational institution.
The requirements for these education careers vary by position. For a senior lecturer position, candidates must possess a Doctorate Degree in the relevant field. The college stated, “Candidates must possess a Doctorate Degree in relevant field(s) from a recognised university with at least six years of teaching or research in a higher institution and possess at least twelve scholarly publications.” They must also be registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria and be computer literate.
For entry-level academic roles like Assistant Lecturer, the requirement is a good first degree with evidence of a teaching qualification. For professional roles like Accountant II, a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or Finance is needed. The salary grade for academic staff positions generally falls under the CONPCASS structure, while non-academic roles use the CONTEDISS scale, offering competitive compensation for the Nigerian employment market.
The method of application requires both physical and digital submission. All applications must be addressed and submitted in a sealed envelope to The Ag. Registrar at the college’s address in Igueben. An e-copy must also be sent to recruitment@edocoe.edu.ng using the Job Title as the subject of the email. The college provided a specific format, noting, “The CV should be arranged in the following order: Full names (surname first underlined), date and place of birth, state of origin, and educational institutions attended with dates.”
Applicants are also responsible for having their referees send confidential reports directly to the college. The announcement confirms that only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, making a well-prepared application and a strong CV crucial for success in this competitive hiring process.
