Edo First Lady donates charcoal stoves to vulnerable community

The Edo State Government, through the Office of the First Lady, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities with a gesture of kindness to the Osiomio Leprosarium in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.

The outreach, marking the third visit to the Centre by the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, demonstrates the State Government’s focus on social welfare and inclusivity. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve the living conditions of marginalized groups across the State.

Represented by the Chief Protocol Officer, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Mabel Obetoh, Mrs. Anani emphasized the government’s continued commitment to social welfare and community development. According to her, “I am delighted to bring these items to you, dear Community members, as a symbol of our commitment to your well-being. This is our third visit, and I am humbled to see the impact of our effort. I want you to know that you are not forgotten, and our administration will continue to show love, care and support to the vulnerable in Edo State. I pray that this gesture brings you joy, comfort and hope.”

The Community Chairman, Mr. Peter Enabulele, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her consistent outreach and acknowledged its positive impact on addressing the challenges faced by residents. He said, “We sincerely thank the First Lady and the Edo State Government for their continued support. We appeal for the review of the monthly stipend, rehabilitation of our hospital, and renovation of the primary school to improve our living conditions.”

A community member, Uhunoma Ogieriakhi, also called for empowerment programmes, skills acquisition centres, and scholarships for children to help strengthen the future of the community.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of clean charcoal stoves and bags of charcoal to the residents, reinforcing the State Government’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusive growth and improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens in Edo State.
