Entrepreneurs and agribusiness operators in Ogun State are set to benefit from fresh government support initiatives as the State Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and driving economic growth across the state.
The assurance was given during the 2026 World Bee Day Celebration held in Abeokuta on Wednesday, where the Ogun State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, said the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration remained focused on creating opportunities for small businesses and local entrepreneurs.
Sofela, who was represented by the Director of Industrial Promotion in the ministry, Mr. Olufemi Adeboye, said the government had continued to roll out programmes designed to support entrepreneurs, including funding opportunities, capacity-building initiatives, export support and other business interventions.
According to him, bee farmers, agribusiness owners and MSME operators across Ogun State stand to gain from several ongoing government-backed economic development programmes aimed at improving productivity and helping local businesses scale.
He said the administration understood the important role small businesses play in job creation, food production and economic stability, adding that more efforts were being made to create a business-friendly environment for entrepreneurs in the state.
“The Ogun State Government remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs and agribusiness players as part of efforts to deepen economic growth and boost the MSME sector in the State,” he stated.
The event, themed “Bee Together to Sustain the Planet,” was organised by the Gateway Apicultural Association (GATAPAS) in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, at the FRSC Auditorium in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.
Sofela also disclosed that the ongoing review of the Ogun State Enterprise Development Agency (OGSEDA) Establishment Bill would further strengthen the MSME ecosystem and provide a more enabling environment for businesses operating within the state.
Industry stakeholders at the event noted that improved government support for MSMEs and agribusinesses could help increase exports, create employment opportunities and encourage more young people to venture into entrepreneurship.
The programme attracted several dignitaries, including the President of GATAPAS, Professor Olawumi Akinyode Timothy; Ogun State Coordinator of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Madam Olajumoke Abolaji; Mr. Kehinde Oyeyemi, who represented the Ogun State FRSC Corps Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi; as well as the immediate past President of GATAPAS, Professor Adebola Osipitan, who delivered the keynote lecture.
