The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, has received Senator Aliyu Wakili Boya, Member representing Fufore/Song Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the House of Representatives.
During the visit, Hon. Barr. Aliyu Wakili Boya highlighted Adamawa’s rapid infrastructural growth, noting newly constructed roads and expanding economic opportunities across the state. He pointed out the importance of building an efficient and sustainable transportation system to support these developments. The lawmaker disclosed plans to introduce three to five containers of electric motorcycles into Adamawa, while stressing the need for training opportunities that will prepare young people to embrace the evolving electric mobility sector. According to him, “The state government is fully backing this initiative to create jobs and drive clean transportation.”
Responding, the NADDC Director General commended the initiative and assured of the Council’s readiness to collaborate. Mr. Osanipin recalled previous interventions by NADDC in the state, which included heavy-duty training for 50 participants and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle maintenance training to strengthen Adamawa’s transport system.
He also referenced the Adamawa State Governor’s earlier commitment to sponsor the training of 1,000 artisans in automotive skills. “The Council has put structures in place and looks forward to executing the program before the end of the year, with possible extension into early 2026 if required,” Osanipin said.
On the subject of electric mobility, the DG stressed the need for supportive infrastructure. He explained that while electric vehicles require more complex charging structures, motorcycles are easier to adapt with charging and swapping systems. He stated this approach could accelerate the adoption of electric motorcycles in Adamawa. NADDC, according to him, is ready to partner with the state to design infrastructure in line with Senator Boya’s initiative.
The Council applauded the lawmaker’s visit and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable mobility and empowering youths through automotive development in Adamawa State.
