The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has announced a renewed partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Nigeria to improve humanitarian aid and migration management in the country.

This was disclosed during a high-level meeting between the Honourable Minister, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the Chief of Mission of IOM Nigeria, Miss Demanche Sharon, held on Friday, 20th June, 2025. The visit focused on creating long-term strategies to reduce poverty and respond to emergency needs.

Professor Yilwatda stressed the need for broader efforts beyond temporary relief. “Humanitarian solutions only cannot solve all humanitarian problems, we need to work towards ensuring sustainable peace,” he said. He commended IOM Nigeria for its continued support in tackling migration and displacement issues and urged for deeper collaboration in addressing Nigeria’s growing humanitarian needs.
