The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has expressed strong support for the role of technology and innovation in reshaping Nigeria’s education sector.

During his recent visit to the Innov8 Hub’s Innovation Start-up Hub in Abuja, Dr. Alausa highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key strategy for national development.

“I was incredibly pleased to visit Innov8 Hub’s Innovation Start-up Hub in Abuja,” said Dr. Alausa. “Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is critical for Nigeria’s transformation into a knowledge-based economy. That’s why TVET is a core component of the Federal Ministry of Education’s Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative.”

He noted that over 7,000 Nigerians have already benefited from the skills-building environment at Innov8 Hub, developing homegrown solutions for industries within the country.

As part of this national strategy, Dr. Alausa announced that the Ministry will establish 18 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centres in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

“In tandem, we are in the process of setting up a National Research and Development Fund with a supporting agency to support local research and innovations,” he added.

He confirmed that the Ministry will collaborate with hubs like Innov8 Hub to upskill both present and future generations.
