The Federal Government has commenced payment of the N22,500 stipend for April to trainees in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme. Only trainees who completed their biometric verification and have a good attendance percentage on the portal are eligible for payment.
This comes after a Nigeria Startup News report decrying TVET trainees’ appeal to the Federal Government to pay the delayed stipend. However, the payment is for just ONE month.
Approved and registered trainees who have been participating at their training centres with a strong attendance record are now receiving credit alerts of N22,500.
The SMS notification reads:

The stipend payment began on April 8, 2026. Many eligible trainees have confirmed receiving the payment. Some reactions shared on social media include: “TVET PAYMENT of 22k IS ONGOING NOW”, “TVET initiative payments ongoing…”, “I just received TVET alert”.
The disbursement is being made to trainees who have consistently attended their various training centres and successfully completed their biometric verification, including those with low attendance.
NOTE that it is not mandatory to have 100% attendance to be paid the stipend.
Meanwhile, the TVET portal, which was meant to open on April 8, still remains closed, and there is no further update, except unverified rumours that the TVET Batch B portal will reopen on April 13, 2026.
Trainees whose portal dashboard does not show their attendance record should contact their coordinators to resolve the issue and avoid missing payment.
