The federal government has commenced payment of N22,500 monthly stipend for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme to trainees. Approved and registered trainees who started participating at their training centres with a good attendance record are now receiving credit alerts of N22,500.
The payment of the monthly TVET stipend to trainees began on December 2, as gathered by Nigeria Startup News. Many eligible trainees have confirmed that they have been paid, with social media, especially Facebook, being flooded with posts like “TVET N22,500 Stipend has started dropping. Check your SMS and account balance.”
This massive disbursement of TVET stipends is going to trainees who have completed their documentation, physical verification and have been participating at their various training centres.
This development comes after House of Representatives member for Ojo Federal Constituency, Seyi Sowunmi, warned that the failure of prompt payment of the monthly stipend had already resulted in declining attendance in some centres. According to him, “We cannot expect commitment from trainees when the system has not honoured its commitments to them.”
The sufficiency of the N22,500 TVET stipend is also becoming a concern as many trainees enrolled in the programme depend on the money to fund transportation to their training centres. Those who travel longer distances may not have enough left for other expenses after covering transport costs.
TVET applicants who still see “Pending” on their dashboard are not eligible for this stipend. Such applicants are advised to continue checking their dashboard until their status changes to Approved.

You will. FME has confirmed that disbursement for TVET trainees and training centres is still ongoing. So, far, N4.7 billion has been paid out. Over 42,227 beneficiaries have received stipend as of today. More to come
My dashboard is showing registered, not approved. What does that mean?
It means that you have completed your physical registration and documentation.
Can I still apply for it now or it has been closed
Closed for now. It will reopen early 2026.
My center is demanding #5000 for each candidate in order to settle supervisor. please is this legal
No, it’s not. Centres are already paid ₦45,000 per trainee. Over 600 TVET Centers have been credited for training, so no training center should be asking trainees for money.
