The Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has announced the 4th edition of its Build-A-Thon Holiday Programme, a national initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with practical digital and innovation skills.
The programme, scheduled to hold from 20th to 24th April 2026, will bring together children across selected states for an intensive, hands-on learning experience focused on emerging technologies.
About the Programme
Build-A-Thon is a federal government-backed initiative aimed at introducing children and teenagers to core areas in technology through practical engagement. Unlike traditional classroom learning, this programme emphasises building, experimentation, and real-time problem-solving.
Participants will be exposed to foundational and intermediate concepts in coding, hardware development, and the Internet of Things (IoT), all within a structured but interactive environment.
The programme is specifically designed for children aged 10 to 18, providing early exposure to skills that are increasingly essential in today’s digital economy.
What Participants Will Learn
During the five-day workshop, selected participants will engage in:
- Hands-on coding sessions designed to build logical thinking
- Introduction to robotics and basic hardware systems
- Practical exposure to Internet of Things (IoT) applications
- Problem-solving exercises through guided projects
- Collaborative learning with peers and facilitators
The approach is intentionally practical, ensuring that participants not only understand concepts but also apply them in real-world scenarios.
Programme Locations
The Build-A-Thon 4th Edition will be held simultaneously across the following locations:
- Enugu
- Lagos
- Ogun
- Federal Capital Territory (Abuja)
- Delta
- Kano
This multi-location structure is aimed at expanding access and ensuring that children from different regions can benefit from the programme.
Why Parents and Guardians Should Apply
As digital skills continue to shape education and employment globally, early exposure has become increasingly important. The Build-A-Thon Holiday Programme offers a structured opportunity for children to develop relevant skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative to position their wards for future opportunities in technology and innovation.
