The federal government, through the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), has dismissed claims circulating in online videos that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano is not operational, describing such reports as misleading.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry clarified that the facility is fully functional under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET II – IDEAS) Programme, where Nigerian youths are currently undergoing structured training.
According to the Ministry, about 300 trainees have been engaged at the Centre since November 2025, receiving instruction in specialised areas including Leather Works, Solar PV Installation, and Hospitality.
It added that the Centre has received the agreed funding tranches necessary for the smooth implementation of the programme, while participants are also being supported with monthly stipends.
The statement further disclosed that, following the spread of the reports, a delegation mandated by the 8th National Council on Skills conducted an inspection visit to the facility on March 30, 2026.
The delegation reportedly confirmed that all enrolled trainees are actively participating in their respective programmes and that training activities are progressing in line with the established schedule.
The Ministry also revealed that industrialist Aliko Dangote has committed to managing the facility for a period of 20 years, alongside plans to expand its training capacity.
While urging the public to disregard unverified claims, the FME reiterated its commitment to strengthening skills development across the country through the establishment and support of standardised training centres.
