Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) has issued a public notice denying circulating claims that it has sent shortlisted candidate SMS to any beneficiary of the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalization Programme (YEIDEP).

The ministry stated, “Please be wary of fraudulent messages circulating via SMS, WhatsApp, and social media claiming to be from the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.”

It added that, “The Ministry will never ask or charge any money for registration, training or grants.”

FMYD further urged unsure candidates to verify information only through the official social media handles of the ministry.

The circulating FMYD message scam claims to inform people that they have been selected as beneficiaries of FMYD YEIDEP.

An SMS obtained by Nigeria Startup News on Thursday read, “Dear applicant, we’re excited to inform you that you have been selected as a beneficiary of the FMYD YEIDEP initiative. Kindly submit your bankable business plan and your account details for your business fund disbursement. Congratulations.”

The sender also included a phone number recipients could call for further enquiries concerning FG YEIDEP.

Based on this development, YEIDEP hopefuls are advised to rely only on official information and ignore SMS messages claiming to be from the programme. At the moment, YEIDEP has not announced any new date for disbursement of N50,000 to N500,000.

Interested applicants can still register for Batch B on YEIDEP portal.
