The Federal Government has outlined key achievements of the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer (HoPE-CT) Programme ahead of its implementation briefing and press conference scheduled for Monday in Abuja.

The event, which is strictly by invitation, will bring together policymakers, development partners, and members of the media to review progress made under the national social protection initiative.

According to programme officials, the HoPE-CT scheme has so far reached over 9.2 million beneficiaries across the country, marking one of the largest cash transfer interventions in Nigeria’s history.

The government noted that the initiative has significantly supported vulnerable households, with women emerging as the majority of beneficiaries. Data released showed that 58.7 per cent of household recipients are female, a move described as critical to strengthening family welfare and economic stability at the grassroots level.

Officials further emphasised the programme’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that all payments are subjected to strict verification processes using the National Identification Number and Bank Verification Number systems. This, they said, has ensured that funds are delivered directly to verified and legitimate beneficiaries, eliminating leakages.

The HoPE-CT Programme forms part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to cushion economic hardship and promote inclusive growth through targeted social interventions.

Although the upcoming briefing will be held behind closed doors, authorities assured that outcomes and key updates from the session will be made available to the public.

Stakeholders expect the programme to continue expanding its reach while maintaining efficiency and transparency in service delivery.
