The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa Esq., has launched MyCityApp Nigeria, an integrated digital city platform designed to empower businesses, transform urban experiences, boost tourism, and connect citizens to government services.

Speaking at the launch event held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre on Thursday, the Minister said the platform was created to give Nigerian businesses stronger visibility and easier access to customers in a fast-growing digital economy.

She explained that MyCityApp Nigeria allows users to discover verified businesses and premium experiences, access essential city services, stay updated on events and trending activities, navigate transportation and key locations, and engage with their city in a more connected and efficient way. According to her, this digital access will help small and medium enterprises reach wider audiences and operate more efficiently.

The Minister highlighted the app’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises digital innovation, job creation, youth empowerment, and strengthening tourism, culture and the creative economy. She noted that empowering businesses through technology is key to creating sustainable jobs and improving economic growth.

Musawa thanked private sector partners for backing Nigerian innovation and government stakeholders for their collaboration and contribution to the Renewed Hope vision.

“In a time where everything is becoming digital, our cities must not be left behind. Tourism today is no longer just about destinations; it is about experience, accessibility, safety, and information at your fingertips.

“MyCityApp Nigeria is the future — transforming smartphones into smart urban companions that help visitors explore, residents engage, and businesses thrive.

“MyCityApp Nigeria promotes digital inclusion, strengthens civic engagement, enhances tourism, and creates opportunities for innovation-driven employment. It repositions Nigeria as a competitive global destination where information is accessible, services are coordinated, and experiences are seamless.

“Let us see this app as a digital infrastructure for urban transformation. The future of tourism is smart. The future of cities is connected. And under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the future of Nigeria is innovative, inclusive, and prosperous,” she said.

Earlier, the Manager of Architectural Engineering and Information Technology at MTN Nigeria, Bukola Ajayi, said MyCityApp was designed to create a unified data system for civic engagement, allowing citizens to connect with government services and report issues, even offline.

She added that the app will launch across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, targeting five million registered users and 40 to 50 daily active users.

“Today marks a milestone toward smarter cities and better governance. Success will be measured not just by downloads, but by its impact on local businesses,” she said.
