Nigeria has taken a significant step toward strengthening online security and transparency with the official launch of the National Digital Trustmark. The initiative, led by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in partnership with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and supported by GIZ, brings together major players from both the public and private sectors to improve confidence in the country’s digital space.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, represented by Dr. Dimie Wariowei, Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, emphasized the importance of building trust in the nation’s online ecosystem. “Trust is the cornerstone of a vibrant and sustainable digital economy,” he stated.

The National Digital Trustmark is designed to provide a clear framework for certifying credible online businesses in Nigeria. This certification will allow consumers to make digital transactions with greater assurance while promoting accountability among digital platforms.
