The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the nationwide rollout of the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a major step aimed at expanding equal access to quality learning for every Nigerian child. The Ministry explained that the programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and is designed to tackle the shortage of qualified teachers while ensuring uninterrupted learning across the country.
According to the Ministry, Inspire Live(s) uses technology to deliver live and interactive lessons directly to learners, helping to make quality education available regardless of a child’s location or situation.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Chief Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa (FAMedS), CON, confirmed that the full implementation of the initiative is already in progress. He stated that the expansion will cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3. The Ministry noted that the Inspire platform currently streams daily online classes for Junior and Senior Secondary Schools. These classes include JSS 1, JSS 2, and SS 2, with live lessons running Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The subjects offered at the Junior Secondary School level include Basic Science, Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies. For Senior Secondary Schools, the platform provides lessons in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing or Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics. All classes are delivered by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.
To support smooth implementation across all states, the Ministry has informed all Honourable Commissioners of Education about the next steps. They have been asked to nominate a State Focal Officer to coordinate Inspire Live(s) activities, share programme details with public and private school principals, ensure designated schools have basic ICT facilities and internet access, and oversee registration, which must be handled only by school principals through the Inspire support channels.
The Ministry emphasised that the real-time online classes are open to all public and private schools in Nigeria. Schools and stakeholders seeking to participate or make enquiries are encouraged to visit inspire.education.gov.ng or contact the Ministry’s Desk Officers: Mrs. Abdulrasheed Ganiyat on 07065762023, Mrs. Idayat Mohammed on 09039191716, and Mr. Ado Abdulmalik on 08055610079.
