The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has opened applications for the 2026 edition of the National Girls in ICT (NG-ICT) 4.0 Competition. The competition is open to participants from all states of the federation, including the FCT.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader commitment to closing the gender gap in ICT and ensuring that more girls across Nigeria are equipped with the digital skills needed to thrive in the future economy. The programme aims to inspire young girls to explore technology and create solutions that can solve real-life problems in their communities.
Participants stand a chance to win exciting prizes, including laptops, tablets, Raspberry Pi kits, Quarky robotics kits, and other learning tools that support innovation and digital development.
The National Girls in ICT Programme is a team-based initiative designed to empower girls aged 10 to 16 years (JS1–SS3) to develop innovative technology solutions addressing challenges in Agriculture, Education, or Health. Applications must be submitted as a team of two to three girls. School approval, as well as parent or guardian consent, is required before submission. Only one entry is allowed per team.
Selected teams will participate in structured training and mentorship sessions aimed at building their digital skills, creativity, and confidence.
The application deadline is 28th February 2026.
