The Federal Government has opened a digital training portal to help Nigerian businesses understand public procurement and improve their chances of competing for government contracts.
The initiative was launched by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) with support from the World Bank under the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement (SPESSE) Project. It is designed to address challenges that often prevent Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from participating in public procurement, including limited access to information, complex bidding procedures and documentation requirements.
The portal provides five interactive training modules, practical examples, quizzes and a certificate of completion. Participants will learn how to identify government contract opportunities, prepare competitive bids, understand procurement procedures and manage contract delivery and performance.
The training can be accessed using smartphones, tablets and computers. The platform is also designed to accommodate users with limited internet connectivity, making it easier for businesses across the country to participate.
The BPP said the programme is intended to widen MSME participation in government procurement and promote fair competition. It could help business owners understand the requirements before responding to public tenders and submitting bids before pursuing public tender opportunities.
However, completing the training does not guarantee that a business will win a government contract. Contract awards remain subject to established procurement rules, competition, transparency and accountability. Applicants should also note that the portal provides training, not a cash grant, loan or automatic contract allocation.
How to apply
Interested business owners can visit the official registration portal at https://lms.nppcp.ng/msme-registration?fbc.
They should create an account, provide the required business and personal information, and follow the instructions to access the learning modules.
Applicants should use accurate details and complete the training through the official platform. Registration and training are free. Avoid agents demanding payment or promising guaranteed government contracts.
