The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured full international scholarships for nine of its officers. They will pursue Masters programmes at the prestigious Rashtriya Raksha University, Gujarat State, India. The institution is a foremost national security and police university under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

This historic development is the first of its kind in Nigeria’s paramilitary landscape. It was achieved through the leadership of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed. His commitment to staff welfare, digitisation, and capacity development has been described as a turning point for the Corps.

Observers have praised this milestone. According to them, “this achievement reflects a new dimension in the training and professional advancement of FRSC personnel.”

In March 2025, staff of the Corps had already benefitted from the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme. That programme was a capacity building initiative of the Government of India. This new scholarship is seen as the dawn of a new era in structured international training.

The scholarships will cover tuition, accommodation, and feeding for two years. The officers will specialise in Police Administration, Cyber Security, and Disaster Management. Experts believe this will equip FRSC officers with the skills to handle emerging challenges in road safety, security, and digital transformation.

By securing this international recognition, the Corps has raised the bar in global collaboration. Its personnel are now positioned to compete and contribute at a worldwide level. Stakeholders hailed the initiative as “a strategic masterstroke that strengthens Nigeria’s human capital base in road safety management, security intelligence, and digital governance.”

A senior officer said, “This is more than a scholarship, it is a generational legacy of knowledge transfer, innovation, and global relevance for the FRSC.”

With this breakthrough, the Corps has once again shown that when vision meets action, history is made.
