Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has reaffirmed his commitment to expanding internet access across the country.
Speaking on his mandate, he stated, “At the heart of my mandate as Minister is a simple but powerful goal, to deliver sustainable, affordable, and meaningful internet access to every Nigerian, no matter where they live.”
Tijani described the ambition as bold but achievable, emphasising the need for “relentless advocacy, partnerships, and the willingness to get my hands dirty, again and again.” He disclosed that he met with the Director General of the Kuwait Fund to discuss Project Bridge, the national fibre infrastructure programme designed to connect every region, state, local government area, and ward in Nigeria.
“This isn’t just a project. It’s a mission, to build the digital backbone that unlocks opportunity, drives productivity, and transforms our economy from the ground up in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Tijani said.
He assured Nigerians of his dedication, adding, “For what it’s worth, I am going all the way,” signalling strong political will to implement the broadband expansion plan.
