The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has entered into a landmark Public-Private Partnership with DLN aimed at transforming basic education across Nigeria.

Speaking today, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Aisha Garba, said, “Today at UBEC, we signed an important Public-Private Partnership with DLN to transform basic education in Nigeria. This project will provide 47 million laptops and tablets to learners and teachers across pre-primary, primary, and junior secondary schools at zero cost to the Federal and State Governments.”

She explained that in addition to the devices, there will be free data access to AI-assisted learning content, teacher training in partnership with the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), and regional hubs for assembling and distributing devices. According to her, these hubs will create jobs and build local expertise while supporting the education sector.

Garba emphasized that the initiative is fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Policy on Education, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She noted that the collaboration highlights a strong commitment between UBEC, the Presidency, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, and other partners to close the digital divide, improve access, and raise the quality of basic education for every Nigerian child regardless of location or background.

“Today’s MOU marks another milestone in fulfilling our mandate at UBEC,” Garba stated, underscoring the Commission’s dedication to enhancing education through technology-driven solutions.
