The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially opened applications for the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme Cohort 2 Batch B, giving another round of opportunities to Nigerians seeking practical skills training, employability, and entrepreneurship support.

The new application phase is part of the Federal Government’s wider effort to expand access to vocational education and reduce unemployment by equipping young people with industry-relevant skills across multiple sectors.

What is the FME TVET Initiative?

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative is a flagship intervention of the Federal Ministry of Education aimed at building a stronger skilled workforce in Nigeria.

It is designed to provide tuition-free vocational training in high-demand trades while supporting beneficiaries with monthly stipends, nationally recognised certification, and post-training empowerment packages.

The initiative seeks to:

Training Duration Under TVET Cohort 2

Applicants may choose between two programme categories depending on their qualifications and experience:

Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Designed for first-time trainees, school leavers, and individuals without formal academic qualifications

Requirements:

  • Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Valid Bank Verification Number (BVN)

No prior educational certificate is required under this category.

Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme

  • Duration: 1 year
  • Suitable for applicants with some educational background or informal vocational experience

Applicants must provide one of the following:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), such as apprenticeship evidence
    OR
  • First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
    OR
  • Any recognised non-formal education certificate

  • Electrical Installation
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Plumbing and Pipe-fitting
  • Solar PV Installation and Maintenance

  • Federal and State Technical Colleges
  • Accredited State Institutions

Important Notice for Applicants

  • Applicants must provide valid NIN and BVN
  • Applicants whose portal status still shows “Pending” from earlier submissions are advised to reapply
