The Minister, Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD), under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Olawande Ayodele Emmanuel, has announced a new partnership discussion with global tech giant Huawei Technologies.
The Minister revealed that he recently concluded a strategic meeting with Huawei’s team to explore how the newly transferred Skill Acquisition Centre in Agadagba-Obon, Ondo State, can be transformed into a modern youth hub for digital skills development.
The facility, which was originally built by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, now called the Ministry of Regional Development, was recently handed over to the Federal Ministry of Youth Development for full management and repurposing.
“Our engagement with Huawei marks a significant step in our efforts to transform the Centre into a full-fledged National Youth Camp and to serve as a modern hub for ICT and digital skills training for the young people of Nigeria,” Olawande said.
Huawei Technologies, known for its global expertise in digital infrastructure, expressed strong interest in supporting the integration of cutting-edge technology and renewable energy into the Centre. The discussions covered areas such as software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital entrepreneurship, fields that align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Minister highlighted the importance of equipping young Nigerians with future-ready skills to boost innovation and economic development, especially in underserved riverine and rural areas.
