Application has officially opened for the Glo Innov8 National STEM Competition for Girls, organized by the Glo Foundation to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education among girls in Nigeria. This initiative is part of efforts to celebrate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child and to empower young women to pursue careers in STEM-related fields.
According to a statement released by the foundation, millions of naira are being invested to encourage girls to take an interest in STEM subjects and develop innovative ideas that can solve real-life problems. The competition is aimed at giving participants the knowledge and confidence to compete and succeed in these fields.
In the statement, the foundation explained, “It is our modest way at Glo Foundation of celebrating and encouraging the girl child to focus more on the studies of STEM subjects and pursue careers in these areas in future so as to become problem solvers for the country.”
The Glo Innov8 competition offers a total prize of N5,000,000 for top-performing schools. The school with the best project idea will receive N2,000,000, while the two students representing the winning school will each be awarded a laptop. In addition, the teacher or mentor guiding the winning team will get a cash prize of N200,000. Schools that take second and third place will also receive consolation prizes.
Registration for the competition began on Monday, September 15, 2025, and will close on October 5, 2025. All senior secondary schools across Nigeria are eligible to participate. To register, schools are required to visit glo-foundation.com/glo-innov8/ and fill out the online form for a chance to compete and win prizes while promoting STEM education for girls nationwide.
