The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has issued a public warning about the ongoing sale of land within an unapproved layout known as Golden City Luxury Estate, Awka. This estate is located in the Executive Business District in Awka and is allegedly being promoted without government approval.
In an official statement released on June 20, 2025, the Ministry emphasized that Golden City Luxury Estate, Awka “has no Estate/Layout approval from the Anambra State Government and as such, it is an illegal /unapproved Estate.”
Mrs. Nkeiru Mokwe, Esq., the Permanent Secretary, warned: “Any person who purchases any parcel or plot of land at the said Golden City Luxury Estate, Awka does so at his or her own risk.”
The Ministry highlighted that some individuals are “encouraging unsuspecting members of the public to purchase land” in the unapproved estate. The warning is part of the government’s broader effort to protect citizens from land fraud and promote real estate transparency and legal property investment in Nigeria.

Members of the public are strongly advised to avoid any dealings with the promoters or sponsors of the estate. “To be forewarned is to be forearmed,” the statement concluded.
