September 18, 2025 – Gombe State Government has officially commenced the recruitment of 2000 personnel into the Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC).
The exercise follows the recent signing of the GOSTEC law by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, which established the corps as a permanent agency responsible for environmental protection, traffic control and community safety across the state.
Announcing the recruitment, the Director-General of GOSTEC, ACP Bappa Ibrahim (Rtd), stated that the approval by the governor demonstrates a strong commitment to improving security and empowering youths in Gombe. “This recruitment is an important step in strengthening the corps to ensure order, safety, and proper environmental management,” he said.
According to the guidelines, suitably qualified indigenes of Gombe State can apply for positions in the following cadres:
i. Officer Cadre – Degree or HND Holders
ii. Middle Cadre – NCE or OND Holders
iii. Junior Cadre – Secondary School Certificate Holders
Applicants are required to submit a handwritten application, photocopies of credentials, and a letter of recommendation from a Ward Head, District Head, Local Government Chairman, or Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of their area. Submissions should be made at the respective Local Government Headquarters.
The commencement date for submission is Friday, 19th September, 2025, while the closing date is Friday, 26th September, 2025. The recruitment period will last for one week only, and late submissions will not be entertained.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized that the initiative aligns with his administration’s vision of institutionalizing GOSTEC to support public order, traffic regulation, and environmental sustainability. He added that the move also reflects efforts toward job creation and effective service delivery.
