The GoodHope Women Flourish Initiative has launched “Project Flourish 200,” a women empowerment programme designed to equip female students and women across Imo State with mentorship and practical vocational skills.
The initiative was unveiled on March 9, 2026, at Haven Suites in Owerri as part of activities to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026. The programme aims to bridge the opportunity gap faced by many young women by providing direct access to mentors, training, and practical skills that can help them become economically independent.
Participants in the week-long programme are receiving hands-on training in hairdressing, baking, makeup artistry, content creation, gele artistry, bead-making, and fascinator design. The training is structured to ensure that women gain practical, marketable skills that can be turned into sustainable businesses.
Speaking on the initiative, the Founder of the GoodHope Women Flourish Initiative and First Lady of Imo State, Barr. (Dr.) Chioma Uzodimma, emphasised the importance of empowering women through skills and mentorship.
“Skill acquisition is not merely about earning a livelihood; it is about self-reliance and improving the confidence of a woman who knows she can provide for herself and contribute meaningfully to her community,” she said.
She added that empowering women goes beyond financial independence and helps them play stronger roles in society.
“When a woman is equipped, she does not wait for permission to flourish. She creates, she builds, and she leads,” Uzodimma stated.
According to the organisers, Project Flourish 200 is part of the organisation’s broader effort to invest in the mentorship, growth, and economic empowerment of women and girls across Imo State through practical opportunities and support systems.
