Applications are now open for the GTCO Squad Hackathon 3.0, the third edition of one of Nigeria’s leading student innovation competitions. University students across Nigeria are invited to design and build smart, data-driven solutions that will reshape how communities interact with money.
The 2026 theme, “Smart Systems: The Intelligent Economy,” challenges participants to create bold, intelligent solutions powered by AI and financial technology.
What You Will Build
Participants are expected to develop innovative solutions across key areas:
AI Automation
Design AI-powered workflows that automate financial processes and improve efficiency in fintech systems.
Use of AI
Build predictive, data-driven tools that enhance security and protect transactions in real time.
Squad APIs
Leverage Squad’s API infrastructure to create scalable and smart financial services.
Financial Innovation
Develop creative solutions that transform how money moves within communities.
Benefits
Participants will gain practical experience, national exposure, and the opportunity to showcase their ideas to industry leaders.
Prizes
Winners will receive cash rewards and recognition through GTCO and Squad platforms:
- 1st Prize: ₦5,000,000 (shared among team members) + publicity
- 2nd Prize: ₦3,000,000 (shared among team members) + publicity
- 3rd Prize: ₦2,000,000 (shared among team members) + publicity
All prizes will be awarded in the form of GTBank utility cards.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a currently enrolled university student in Nigeria
- Teams must consist of 2 to 4 members
- Cross-disciplinary teams are encouraged
- At least one team member must have a technical background (engineering, computer science, data science, or related fields)
- Each participant must have a valid student ID
- Applicants can only belong to one team
