The iHatch Cohort 5 Hub Upskilling Programme is now open for applications, inviting innovation hubs and ecosystem builders across all 36 states and the FCT to participate. This nationwide call is designed to strengthen innovation hubs so they can better support early-stage startups within their communities and drive sustainable economic growth.
iHatch is Nigeria’s first truly nationwide incubation programme, operating through a decentralised, hub-first model. Rather than focusing solely on startups, the programme builds the capacity of innovation hubs to become long-term engines of growth in their regions. By equipping hubs with the right tools, structure, and knowledge, iHatch ensures that startups receive consistent mentorship, resources, and development support during and beyond the incubation period.
The programme is implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Office for National Digital Innovation (ONDI), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Through this partnership, selected hubs will gain access to structured training, ecosystem support, and practical strategies to improve their incubation delivery.
Participating hubs will benefit from hands-on training, business and skills workshops, and guidance from experienced industry experts. The programme also offers valuable networking opportunities and access to resources that strengthen operational capacity and improve the quality of startup support services.
Priority focus areas include FinTech, AgriTech, HealthTech, EdTech, CleanTech, Logistics, and Security. Innovation hubs operating in these sectors are strongly encouraged to apply.
To be eligible, hubs must have operated for at least one year with a proven track record. Applicants should demonstrate clear commitment to startup ecosystem development, show experience in innovation management or startup support, and have physical infrastructure for incubation activities.
Applicants are required to submit their CAC registration certificate, social media handles, and links to reports from past innovation events organised or co-implemented by the hub.
The Hub Call for Applications runs from 23rd February to 16th March.
