Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan has concluded the 6th edition of the Sina Adegunle Business Summit (SABS), its annual flagship business conference aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs and innovative business ideas through funding, mentorship, and capacity development.

The business summit was held at Daylan Event Centre, Ibadan, and organised in honour of JCI Senator Sina Adegunle, a past Ibadan and national president of JCI Nigeria, who is widely recognised as a long-standing advocate for youth empowerment and enterprise development. Over the years, SABS has grown into a trusted platform focused on nurturing early-stage businesses and encouraging sustainable entrepreneurship among young people.

This year’s edition attracted corps members, students, startup founders, and business owners. Participants described the atmosphere as practical and engaging, with sessions designed to promote learning, opportunity, and collaboration among attendees with shared business interests.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Tope Odetayo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Top Success Media and Group of Companies, spoke on job creation and business sustainability. He stressed the importance of proper planning in building enterprises that can withstand economic changes and market pressures.

He challenged participants to intentionally create value from their passions and interests, stating that “sustainable businesses are often born where purpose meets strategy.” According to him, young entrepreneurs must think beyond short-term gains and focus on long-term impact.

Dr. Odetayo emphasised the power of collaboration using the acronym TEAM, which he explained as “Together Each Individual Achieves More.” He said community, partnerships, and the right network remain critical drivers of business growth in today’s economy.

A major highlight of the summit was the Business Pitch Competition, which featured pitches from the top 10 shortlisted participants. After a rigorous screening process, five finalists were selected to pitch live before the audience and judging panel.

The judging panel, made up of experienced professionals and entrepreneurs, was commended for its fairness and engagement. Judges explained the pitch criteria clearly and asked questions that tested the viability, scalability, and sustainability of each business idea.

At the end of the competition, Mokxyclothier emerged as the overall winner and received the ₦1,000,000 cash prize. One of the judges, Morakinyo Goodness, Chairman of Valencia Group of Schools, announced an extra ₦500,000 business partnership support for the winner. This was complemented by an additional ₦100,000 cash support from Past Presidents of JCI Ibadan.

Beyond the main competition, the summit spotlighted three corps members who started businesses during their service year. They were allowed to pitch and won cash prizes and media publicity through Top Success Radio locally.
