The Kaduna State Government has commenced the distribution of livestock support equipment to farmers across the state as part of efforts to boost agriculture, improve productivity and increase farmers’ income.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, flagged off the distribution at Umar Musa Yar’adua Hall.
According to the state government, the programme will support about 5,000 farmers organised into cooperatives across the 23 local government areas.
Balarabe said the intervention is designed to strengthen livestock production and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
“This programme reflects our administration’s commitment to making agriculture a key driver of economic growth, job creation and food security in Kaduna State,” she said.
She explained that cooperatives are receiving solar-powered freezers and feed milling machines to support poultry and livestock activities.
“The objective is to increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses and enhance farmer incomes,” Balarabe added.
She also noted that the state government will continue supporting livestock farmers through improved animal health services, vaccination campaigns and other agricultural infrastructure.
